President's Message
Matthew Nicolai

Calista Corporation has a unique opportunity to address today. How we respond to this opportunity will affect our ability to create jobs in our region. The challenge lies with our shareholder's ability to embrace the promise of this prospect; the promise of jobs, cash and hope for our children's future.

Barrick Gold Corporation recently purchased Placer Dome, the mining development company at Donlin Creek. Barrick has continued the contract with Chiulista Camp Services, a Calista Corporation subsidiary, to run the Donlin camp. Over 215 jobs have been created this summer alone; and over 1,900 jobs have been created with this project over the past ten years.

I am heartened that shareholders continue to call and write letters to our directors and company managers encouraging them to keep thinking ahead to build on this opportunity. I am dedicated (as is your Calista board and management) to our strategic goal of creating jobs for our children's future, and the Donlin Creek project is our most promising opportunity to do so.

Calista Corporation has confidence that Barrick will run a clean-mine while following strict federal and state mining laws. Barrick's vision is to develop resources in a safe and socially responsible manner; as well as to foster positive relationships with neighboring communities.

Shareholders must know that at all times we will work with Barrick to address your concerns. We understand change is not easy. However, we feel it is our responsibility to develop our resources and serve our shareholders; and we grow only more determined when we hear shareholders tell us that you need jobs. Calista Corporation wants to create jobs to benefit our communities and future generations.

Over the last thirty years, 46 village corporations have received over $90 million dollars from ANCSA Section 7(j) funds through resource development revenues. If Donlin is deemed feasible to mine, our revenues would positively impact all 12 Alaska Native corporations and 223 village corporations in the state.

Barrick has invested over $90 million dollars for a pre-feasibility study of Donlin Creek. I urge you to tell your council members, village corporate leaders and city council members to embrace this Donlin Creek opportunity. Donlin Creek is our chance to develop our own economy. It is our chance to develop our own future.

Quyana.
